A Message From Chancellor Aparna Palmer:

Hello Everyone!

Mitzi, Steffi, and I want to celebrate a win that belongs to all of us: this year, we exceeded our goal to get at least 40% of our students to participate in Title IX training by the end of October! As of today, 47.09% of our students have gone through the Title IX training!!!! As you may recall from fall Convocation, only about a third of our students complete the training each year by October 31st. So, this is a huge jump!

Other highlights:

  • 92.26% of our students in UAS Juneau Housing have gone through the training! This is a high risk area
  • 89.45% of our employees have completed Title IX training.

This is definitely thanks to all of you, faculty and staff, who contacted our students and encouraged them to take the training! We are really grateful to you for your help with this effort, which is so vital to offering a safe environment on our campuses for all students, whether they are here in person or online. Special thanks to the members of BEARS, CACANE, the Housing Team, the Student Affairs Team and the Title IX Committee–your help in keeping student safety top of mind all year round is so important to student success at UAS!

Yes, we have more to do. We will keep working on this. But, luckily, we do have until the end of the academic year to help our students learn how to make informed decisions when it comes to safety by going through the training.

But, take a moment to celebrate this news!💫Congratulations and Gunalchéesh! This really would not be possible without all of you.

Sincerely,

Mitzi Bolaños Anderson, Director ORCA, & Title IX Coordinator

Steffi Jedlicka, Associate Director, ORCA, & Deputy Title IX Coordinator

Aparna D.~N. Palmer, Chancellor
