It is located on the first floor of the Mourant building near the Health Clinic.The pantry is run by the SRC. Anyone is welcome to donate food including faculty, students, and Juneau community members. For students wanting to utilize the pantry, they tell you to "take what you need and give what you can." To find the food pantry, you can ask the staff at the front desk for directions. Hours for the pantry are 8am-5pm Monday through Friday.

Hundreds of Alaskans chanted “override, override” at the state capitol in Juneau on Monday, protesting Gov. Michael Dunleavy’s recent action to strip $444 million from the state operating budget, including $130 million from the University of Alaska system. Inside the capitol, more than half the State Senate and House of Representatives convened in special session. Some members met at a middle school in Wasilla, where Dunleavy had hoped the session would meet, but the majority of both houses voted last month to meet in Juneau. In a joint statement Monday afternoon, House Speaker Bryce Edgmon (I-Dillingham) and Senate President Cathy Giessel (R-Anchorage) said the legislature will hold a veto override session on Wednesday. Governor Dunleavy vetoed the state-funded portion of the operating budget for the University of Alaska by $130 million on June 28. UA President Jim Johnsen has said that this cut will devastate the UA system. In an email sent to UAS students on July 1, UAS Chancellor Rick Caulfield said that he fears “this veto will have dramatic impact on the programs and services that we provide to you at our three UAS campuses.” But the story is not over. The legislature still has the ability to override when they reconvene on July 8. Caulfield’s email called students to action: “We need your help now in advocating for a legislative override of his action.” UAS students will be an integral part of this decision. Send a letter, write an email, attend a demonstration, and above all, be visible in your support for the UA system.
